Affectivity is spontaneous, so often correlated to peripheral occurrences. In fact, I would say 'undoubtedly correlated', speaking as one undergone. The mortifying theory is frustrating and leaves Man unsure of who they really are.
And also, the onus of not being who we should be.
That said, a dose of felicitous recollection does no harm to the tottering senses. I besiege you to feast your eyes.
The Bible says that where our heart is, our treasure is. If our hearts are subjected to the environment, would we want to let God take control instead?
Psalm 73:26
